All of you know the Internet and its services. Let us have a brief look at some of the terminologies related to Internet.
Home page of a web site is the page that is displayed if you simply type in the domain name (Eg. www.google.com) of the site in the address bar of your browser and press enter. Home page can also be considered as a page that serves as the table of contents and logical starting point for a collection of web pages in that web site.

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. While viewing any web page, if you look at the address field of your web browser you will see the complete address of the web page. This is called the Uniform Resource Locator of the web page you are looking at right now. A URL can be thought of as the address of a web page.

3) HTML
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a simple markup language used to make web pages. Nowadays most of the word processors can also be used for creating web pages. HTML is very simple and quite easy to learn. A piece of text that links to another website or web page is called a Hypertext. By clicking on the hypertext the web browser will automatically go to that site.
4) Browser
This is the piece of software that communicates with web servers for you via the HTTP protocol, translates HTML pages and image data into a nicely formatted on- screen display, and presents this information to your eyeballs. Examples of web browsers are Google chrome,Internet explorer, Opera, Firefox etc.

It is an entire collection of web pages and other information (such as images, sound, and video files, etc.) that are made available through what appears to users as a single web server. Typically all the pages in a website share the same basic URL.
