APIPA: Automatic Private IP Addressing
It is a feature of Windows that if client cannot connect DHCP server to get IP address, it get a default IP address with in the range of 169.254.0.1 - 169.254.255.254.
IP Address: IP address is a numerical identifier assigned to each machine on ip network. It is a software address.
Subnet mask: subnet mask is used to identify in which class the IP address belongs to.
